Expectations

"What's the secret to your success?"

If I ever become famous and someone asks me... my answer will be simple. Set expectations!

Anytime I had success (and failure) in life. It's because I did, or did not, set the right expectations. And that's what this lesson is all about.

  1. Every week on Thursday evenings... there will be a weekly support call. With the exception of the 4th Thursday of the month. The call will be 30-60 minutes depending on how much support you need.

The formate: Usually I will have a topic of conversation based on what I feel will help you out for the upcoming week. From there we'll open up for Q+A.

  2. A weekly checkin via email Sunday mornings for support and accountability. Be sure to fill out the form I send so I can best support you.
  3. Delivery and breakdown of training plans each Saturday morning at 10am. So you can plan and prepare for the upcoming week.
  4. Delivery and breakdown of eating strategies for each phase on Saturday by 10am.

What to expect from me.

I am your coach.

I am not here to hold your hand.

I am here to support and guide you to your goal.

Support:

All questions and additional support must go through the LIVE CHAT support group here on Slack. Only VIP's have access to 1:1 support via private Slack DM and coaching calls.

This is important for three reasons:

  1. It brings more value to the group.

  2. Likely others will have the same question and I can answer all Q's at the same time (two birds, one stone kinda thing).

  3. Someone may have already asked the same question and I can redirect you to the answer.

Response times:

I respond to all messages within 24-48 hours Monday - Friday between the hours of 10:00-15:00 CDT. Any questions after 15:00 on Friday will be responded the following Monday.

If you have an emergency or personal question please email me: [email protected]

What I expect from you.

Simple.

We're all adults here.

  1. Do the work in front of you.
  2. Fill out your weekly check-ins.
  3. Complete your training plans to the "T." (Unless I give you advise otherwise.)

**If you're a "VIP" and I have you on an eating strategy, you own me your nutrition logs. This is a non-negotiable.

Be sure to upgrade your account on "Lose It!" to the premium version so you can email me your weekly reports (see here how to do this).

This may seem stern... because it is. This is why you invested in this program and hired me as your coach. Accountability. Because your way of doing things... hasn't worked.

I'm demanding, but fair.

If you have something personal going on (who doesn't?!) let me know and we can make adjustments. But you own me your logs non the less. You got this!

What to expect from yourself.

Loss aversion is the tendency to prefer avoiding losses to acquiring equivalent gains.

Nobel-Prize winner Daniel Kahneman’s book, Thinking Fast and Slow, he writes about the benefits of a fear of failure in what he calls, "Loss Aversion."

There was a study of golfers who were more successful putting for Par than for birdie by 3.6% No matter how hard or easy the put was. They weren’t playing to win but rather not to lose and saw a 3.6% increase in success.

Many think playing to win is more powerful than playing not to lose. And there is a lot of truth to this... you've seen this in team and combat sports.

But here's the thing.

Setting the most unrealistic self-expectations (which you'll do in your daily statement), the aversion to failure of NOT reaching the goal is much STRONGER than the desire to reach it.

Basically the desire to not let your family, fellow man, and yourself IS STRONGER than the actual desire to attain the goal in front of you.

Your goals become greater than “YOU” and more about your community. Because at the end of the day... strength is on about about you. it's about the greater purpose it serves.

It drives you to do the perceived un-fun, dreaded work in front of you. Because at the end of the day... the work you're doing in this program is not about about you.

But rather the greater purpose it serves.

It's about the people who will be affected by your decisions (or indecisions).

The game is bigger than you and I.

Take a moment before moving to the next lesson to set the expectations you have of yourself.

Then post them in the LIVE CHAT support group. So the community can hold you accountable to yourself.
