"The object of your knowledge, must be truth." ~ St. John Paul II
Based on the last lesson, what is at the center of your wheel?
What's at the center is likely the "object" dominating your thoughts, desire, and devotion.
An object not based on truth.
And an object likely tied to a "number."
Which ultimately leads to perpetual unhappiness because... numbers never end. What dominates your thoughts (positive or negative) is the very thing you'll eventually find identity in.
... and when you find yourself in a place where you can’t overcome this dominating thought... it become an addiction.
"Through the dominating thoughts, which one permits to remain in the conscious mind, (whether these thoughts be negative or positive, is immaterial), the principle of auto-suggestion voluntarily reaches the subconscious mind and influences it with these thoughts." ~ Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich, pg.95
Your current dominating thoughts are leading to your current results. Don't say and/or speak things you do not want to experience.
Shift your focus to only what you want to experience more of.
... because what you focus on GROWS.
I unpack this more in this lecture...
"The Dominant Thought"
4 Steps to Shift Your Dominanta
- Choose, or create your ideal environment to support your ability to focus:
*Your home.
*Your training space (no distractions: social media, etc...) - Clear your physical and mental clutter:
*Schedule half a day to clean up your workspace.
*Then clear your mind with a brain dump.
*Purge your mind of all those to-do lists floating around in your head and create a master to-do list.
*Only list those of absolute importance.
(If everything is important, NOTHING is important.) - Create boundaries:
Protect yourself from interruptions.
(both from yourself—by turning off notifications—and from others, by putting your phone on do not disturb.)
Create focused time-blocks in your calendar to return calls, txts, and emails. Technology exists for your benefit. When and how often you check your phone and respond is determined by you. - Open your Evernote notebook and build your own "focus list":
*What do I need to keep doing? (or do more of)
*What do I need to start doing?
*What do I need to stop doing?
*All of which can only be identified through the brain dump in the next lesson.
